I’ve decided to kick off the month of July with an alphabet challenge. I’ve seen these around the interwebs and find them interesting and thought provoking – two things I could use right about now to jump back on the bandwagon. It also kind of takes the pressure off, ya know? I mean I know exactly what my theme is for the next 26 days. Annnnnd now…brought to you by the letter A:
ATTITUDE!
Yup, for me homeschooling is all about attitude. I had to change my attitude about what it is to be a teacher and a mom and I need a confident attitude to handle all of the people who have told me I’m not doing XYZ which will hurt my children in the long run or that I’m wasting my education and my life. Uhm, no. My education is being used to educate my children, not a waste. My life is being spent taking care of my children and husband and doing the things I enjoy, also not a waste.
I really think attitude plays a key role in the success of just about any endeavor. My challenge is going to be to have the attitude that I *can* do this even when curriculum selection, being everything to everybody, and feeling overwhelmed starts to get in the way. That’s actually part of the reason I’m going to be making my Homeschool Alphabet – to change the way I think about homeschooling before we jump in full time.
How has your attitude about homeschooling affected your success? Come on people, inspire me
