It’s possible that I might be a little obsessed with the Pioneer Woman. Not in a creepy way, well not too creepy, but in a she inspires me to be a better mother and wife kind of way. Have you seen the movie Julie and Julia? It’s like that, except I don’t blog regularly or well enough to get a book deal. However, the movie did inspire this crazy idea…
I am going to make all of the recipes in The Pioneer Woman Cooks, before the end of the year. There are 63, if I counted right, and I am sooo nervous! I asked for, and received, the book for Christmas last year and read the entire thing in one day because I loved it so much. BUT the recipes intimidated me and I haven’t tried any of them. But I’m going to do it now and when I’m done I’m going to pick another cookbook that I have (I have somewhat of an obsession with them) and I’m going to do the same thing. I’m tired of cooking the same uninspired dishes (really quick and easy stuff) and I want to learn to cook a wider variety of food and the recipes in PWs books (and website) look so great.
I actually made the perfect pound cake from her website which was the first noncakemixcake I’ve ever made and it was mind blowing. Right, I’m rambling. So anyway. I’ll be trying a few each week and I’ll do the pics just like she does to show you what it looks like when a novice does it. Hey, everyone needs a good laugh now and then, right? Right. Oh and I’ll just tell you riiiight now. I’m allergic to onions (as in actually allergic epipen prescription kind of allergic) so I’ll be substituting. No onions in this household, baby. Well except for her take on onion rings…guess I’ll wear gloves and let Wolfie tell me what he thinks
So am I crazy? Inspired? Obsessed? Yeah…probably all three
